Hi I’m Mama Bear
Hi, I’d like to introduce myself, I’m Mama Bear Sandy. I am a mother of a high school aged girl Cub, who was diagnosed with Autism when she was only 3 years old. Our journey as a family, making our way through the system and our own personal feelings, has been long and hard. We have been with doctors, social services, therapies, school districts, and parent / child groups. I’ve had people tell me she would grow out of it and that I was making a big deal out of nothing. I nearly lost my job, actually, I quit at one point.
I am hoping I can help you navigate your way through the maze and share my experiences. We can share good times, great ideas and vent our frustrations and joys here. If you need to talk, cry or yell.. it’s OK! We can Growl together!!
This journey may feel hard, that’s why I call myself Mama Bear! I protect my Cubs like a Mama Bear does. You are the best advocate for your Cub, be like a Mama or a Papa Bear! Raising our Cubs is the hardest, wonderful-est, most important thing we will ever do!! Sometimes we need to Growl, sometimes we just need to relax in the meadow.
I’ll tell you more about my cub and our journey later. We’re not out of the woods yet.
Just know you are not alone!
So let’s be Mama and Papa Bears together!!
